Sufi Message

Sufi Shrines are Gateways
of Peace Harmony Tolerance
Compassion and Justice

Sufi’s world is a world of Peace and Harmony,Their Mission is always service to mankind and worship only for Almighty Allah, they believe in Peace, Tolerance and Compassion.
Sultanul Mashaikh Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Aulia was one of the most renowned and revered Sufi saints of India, who is also known by his title of Mehboobe Elahi (Beloved of God). His holy shrine at Delhi is a world-renowned spiritual center. He had propagated the teachings of Islam and the teachings of real Sufism (Islamic Mysticism) to the people of the world. He spread the message of peace, love and tolerance to the mankind. He lived a life of strict austerity in the tradition of the Sufi saints. The real Sufism (Tassawwuf) or Islamic Mysticism is entirely different from “Western Sufism” which seems to be influenced by other religions, as prevailing in some European countries. There is no Sufism and Spirituality without Islam and Shariat. The real Sufism is based on the strict Islamic faith and its teachings. It works within the framework of Shariat. The “Tariqat” i.e. the Sufi way of life for spiritual upliftment, advancement and purity of ideas, is not separate from Shariat or Islamic Laws. An eminent and earliest Sufi Saint Hazrat Ali Hujweri (Data Ganj Baksh) says, “As light cannot be separated from the sun, similarly ‘Shariat’ cannot be separated from Tariqat.”
Sufism or Islamic Mysticism came to India with Sufi Saints with the spread of Islam from the Middle Eastern countries during the 11th and 12th Centuries A.D. It was by the overpowering spell and charm of their magnetic personality, spiritual powers and exemplary conduct that they won the hearts of millions of people of India and thus laid the foundation of Islamic Mysticism in this country. The word “Islam” means ‘peace’ and ‘submission’. In its religious sense it denotes submission to the will of God and in its secular sense the establishment of peace. Sufi Saints preached love among all classes of people. The lives of these humble and peaceful Sufi saints, who brought nothing with them except the name of Almighty Allah and the message of universal love, were exclusively dedicated to the cause of religious and spiritual enlightenment of the suffering humanity. As such they were naturally loved and respected by all classes and ranks of people from a peasant to a prince. They made India their home, lived here and gloriously passed away in the service of mankind.
The Holy Shrine of the Great Sufi Saint of India Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Aulia has a magnetic power to attract the people in large number irrespective of faith and religion. The Shrine reflects the true Sufi traditions. Besides the holy grave of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia at his Dargah, there are many graves of Kings, Princes, Princesses and great men of Islam in the holy precincts of this famous shrine. There is an old Khanqah Sharif (Monastery) in the northeastern corner of Humayun’s Tomb. It is well known that Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia used to make his holy devotions, meditation and religious practices in its seclusion. And at his Langar Khana (Kitchen) thousands of people, especially the needy and poor were fed daily.
Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia did not like to meet any King or Sultan of his time, he has said, “A Sufi must never go to the courts of Kings and must refuse to accept any kind of reward or gratification for his maintenance”. But after the death(wisal) of the Saint all kinds of People including kings started visiting the Shrine in a very large number from different parts of India and other countries of the world, they pay their respectful tributes to the great saint. This center of spiritualism promotes world peace, universal brotherhood, communal harmony and tolerance. The marvelous teachings of Indian Sufi saints for peace and harmony have great relevance today.
The World Sufi Mission-India,[Founded in 1990] which is a Mission of Indian Sufi Saints for peace and harmony, is committed to spread the message of peace and love to the whole mankind. The mission is purely a spiritual and non-political organization. The Sufi Message of peace is universal and meant for the whole mankind. This message is not confined to any particular community, society or country but it extends to the whole world. In fact, peace and love have no limitations; it cannot be enclosed within the boundary walls of any particular community, society or country but it should cross all borders and barriers and must reach the whole mankind.
The Great Prophet of Islam Hazrat Mohammed (P.B.U.H) has said:
“May I tell you what is even better than prayers, fasting and charity, it is reconciling differences and disputes among men, and sowing discord wipes off all virtues.”
The Prophet of Islam has also said that, the first act of wisdom, after faith in God is the love of humanity and doing good to all, regardless of their virtues and vices. The Holy Quran says, “Those who create violence on the earth will suffer a great loss.” The very meaning of the word Islam is peace, compassion and mercy, which disprove the mischievous lie that Islam was spread by sword. It is a historical fact that the Islamic wars fought during the time of the Great Prophet of Islam (P.B.U.H) were not offensive but in self-defence.
The world renowned Great Sufi Saint of India His Holiness Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia has said that “To hurt a human heart is to hurt the grace of God”. It is a matter of great pride for the entire Muslim world that several great Sufi Saints like Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti,Gharib Nawaz of Ajmer,Hazrat Baba Farid Ganje Shakar and Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia were born on the Indian soil which had also produced several other great and famous religious and spiritual personalities who have devoted their whole lives for the welfare of the mankind. They have always preached love, tolerance, peace and justice. Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia was very compassionate and merciful in nature; he treated all people with sympathy. He has said, A Sufi dervish must never curse any body however great may be the persecution which he may suffer. He must always refrain from disclosing the faults of the people, which is a virtue and one of the best devotions to God.
The famous Sufi Saint Hazrat Baba Farid has blessed his disciple Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia and said “May God make you fortunate and bless you. You will be a spacious tree under which the oppressed humanity would take shelter and feel comfort. Whosoever comes to you, shower your blessings and favour upon him. Never refuse to bless and help the needy and the poor, the widow and the orphans, if they come to your door. This is your mission of peace to serve the mankind. With your spiritual light, dispel the darkness of ignorance; dissolve the clouds of discord and war and spread goodwill, peace and harmony among the people.
Almighty Allah likes sincerity, He never looks towards our faces and riches, but He always looks only towards our hearts, our sincerity and the nature of our deeds. The present environment around the world is being polluted with conflicts, violence, unrest, hatred, injustice and intolerance. It is a prayer to Almighty Allah the Creator of the whole mankind to bestow peace, prosperity and happiness all over the world. He is compassionate and merciful, and the supremacy of the whole universe vests entirely in Him.
Abbreviation- P.B.U.H = Peace be upon him.
